The governments of Maldives and India is to soon come to an agreement where Maldivians can change their tourist visas into medical visas in India when needed.
RaajjeMV understands that anyone helping the person can also have their visa changed.
The agreement will be made during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s visit to India on December 17.
Currently, Maldivians with tourist visas in India will need to return to their home country and get a medical visa if they wish to seek treatment in India.
RaajjeMV was also told that the agreement will bring more favorable changes to Maldivians seeking long-term medical treatment in India.
The Foreign Ministry has not disclosed any details on the visa agreement, but in a tweet on Friday, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid confirmed that a favorable visa agreement will be made during the President’s visit.
Initial discussions on the visa agreement was made by Minister Shahid during his first visit to India since assuming office.
