Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula has said that new airports will be opened next year.
In her address on International Civil Aviation Day, Minister Nahula said she has full confidence that the President’s pledges regarding civil aviation in his 100 days’ agenda will be fulfilled before the deadline.
There are currently 12 airports operating in Maldives.
In her address, Minister Nahula said the development of Velana International Airport will benefit the economy and provide top-class services.
She also said that the ministry will, within the 100 days, change locations of ferry terminals to make it easier to travel from Male’ to Hulhule’, establish special parking zones for Velana airport employees, and make air travel within Maldives cheaper.
