Youth Ministry organizes 'Orange Day' activities in Malé, this Saturday

The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment has organized a host of activities in commemoration of the United Nations’ ‘orange day’.
The activities began at 07:00am on Saturday and is underway at the Youth Center in Maafannu of capital city Malé. The event will continue until 11:30pm.

In addition to awareness speeches, main events are three-on-three futsal matches. The finals for these all-women matches will be held on Saturday night.
The activities are being held under the theme, ‘Orange the World’. Officially, ‘orange day’ is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The resolution to mark this day on November 25th was put through the United Nations General Assembly in December, 1999.
Last year, mass ‘orange day’ rallies were held in Colombia, France, Italy, and Turkey.
