President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s inauguration was a historic moment for Maldives, says United States Ambassador Alaina Teplitz.

She said this in an exclusive interview with RaajjeTV during her visit to Maldives after being appointed as the new US Ambassador to Maldives and Sri Lanka.

In the interview, Ambassador Teplitz said it was an honor to be part of President Solih’s inauguration ceremony and that she was looking for more trips to Maldives.

When asked about former President Abdulla Yameen’s allegations of electoral fraud, the Ambassador highlighted that the Maldives Supreme Court has decided that the election was legitimate, and said that she had met Solih and congratulated him on his victory.

She also said that the United States wishes to renew its friendship with Maldives and discuss topics of mutual interest and cooperation such as a free and open Indo-Pacific region, security, and economic interests, in particular public financial management.
