The new cabinet members are to be sworn in on Saturday night, with seven female ministers.

While only a few hours remain until Solih’s inauguration, some cabinet members have still not confirmed their appointment.

19 ministries and the attorney general’s office will be established in Solih’s government, with 22 cabinet members.

RaajjeMV understands that Solih’s cabinet will consist of at least seven female ministers picked from the opposition coalition.

Three of the female ministers will be from the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM), two from Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), one from Jumhooree Party (JP), and one from Adhaalath Party.

Once sworn in, it would become the cabinet with the highest number of female members in Maldives history.

The current administration has three cabinet members. They are: gender minister Zenysha Zaki, education minister Aishath Shiham, and youth minister Irthisham Adam. President Yameen’s administration also had Dunya Maumoon as the foreign minister and Mariyam Shakeela as health minister, but they had later resigned.

President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration had four female cabinet members. They are: health minister Dr. Aminath Jameel, attorney general Dhiyana Saeed, education minister Aishath Shifaq, and tourism minister Mariyam Zulfa.
