Investigations and trial must be held in the cases of embezzlement from state funds, says former Member of Parliament for Madaveli constituency, Mohamed Nazim.
Speaking on a live program on RaajjeTV on Saturday night, the former MP stressed that the past five years have seen an undesirable maintenance of autocracy which shaped the entire system. Due to this, state institutions have stepped out of the legal ambit and begun practicing the culture of corruption and tyranny like never seen before in the country’s history.
Highlighting that the leased islands, reefs and all the moneys taken in hefty amounts from state funds must be returned, Nazim said that letting such perpetrators get away with these acts of corruption will plunge the nation into darkness.
Nazim further stated that while the four opposition leaders of the joint opposition coalition have pledged to bring back justice to the horizon, the biggest reason the citizens chose a coalition government was in their hopes for justice to be brought back.
Calling for investigations into the embezzlement of state funds, Nazim went on to say that although there are some sincere members left in Parliament, it was hijacked throughout the past five years, adding that political parties and the media had also been stifled and their leaders thrown behind bars.
Nazim called for thorough investigations into these acts of corruption as well.
