MET Office says heavy rain expected across Maldives
 
MET Office said in a statement on Friday night that heavy rain with thunderstorms are to be expected in regions across the country

Local weather authority, the Maldives Meteorological Services (MET Office) has warned that heavy rain is to be expected in atolls across Maldives, in the next 24 hours.

MET Office said in a statement on Friday night that heavy rain with thunderstorms are to be expected in regions across the country. The allocated time period for this estiamate is from 8:00pm on Friday to 8:00pm on Saturday. 

The weather authority also said that surface winds will gust in a west to northwesterly direction at 5 to 5 miles per hour in the nothern attols and 8 to 18 miles per hour in other regions. 

Seas are expected to be moderate in the southern atolls while slight in the northern regions of the country.
