Thailand's cabinet has given the green light to waive on-arrival visa fees for tourists from 21 countries, including the Maldives.
The reasoning behind this decision, which is to last two months, is to increase tourist arrivals during the festive new year period,
A Thai government spokesperson revealed the newly drafted policy allows authorities to forgo the on-arrival visa charge of 2000 Bhat (60 US Dollars) starting this December 1st, till the end of January.
Andorra, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan are the other countries included in this exemption.
