President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is to travel to Saudi Arabia this week.
RaajjeMV has learnt that Solih will depart to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday for a Umra pilgrimmage trip and that he will be greeted by Saudi government officials there.
He is set to return on Friday.
This will be Solih’s first official international visit since being elected by the people on September 23.
Opposition leader, former President Mohamed Nasheed traveled to Saudi Arabia in mid-October, on the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud.
Details of his one-day trip have not been disclosed.
Saudi Arabia was one of the first nations to congratulate the president-elect following his win against sitting President Abdulla Yameen, with both King Salman and the crown prince calling him days after.
