The recently re-seated 12 MPs have filed a police report against former speaker Abdulla Maseeh.

The report is regarding Maseeh’s unlawful actions against the lawmakers.

This include barring them from sittings and forcefully removing them from the parliament building, which includes an incident where they were carried and thrown out over the gates by military guards.

The report also highlighted that Maseeh had failed to act when the MPs were jailed.

The 12 MPs were unseated after they defected from the ruling party and began supporting pro-government speaker Maseeh’s impeachment.

The Supreme Court last month re-seated the lawmakers and Maseeh resigned shortly after the parliament placed his impeachment motion on the agenda.
