The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) needs to be changed to make way for judicial reform, says lawyer Moosa Siraj.
Speaking on a RaajjeTV programme on Friday night, Siraj raised concern regarding the current JSC membership consisting of judges and appointments to the commission being made by the president.
Siraj said judges should not have the authority to oversee themselves.
He also said that it is up to the JSC to make sure that the citizens who file complaints are heard and that it was important to appoint the most qualified judges and hold public trials.
He expressed hope that president-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration will allow for the necessary changes.
