The president-elect’s spokesperson Mariya Ahmed Didi has said that reviewing and giving a verdict on the Supreme Court’s order to release political prisoners would help the country’s stability.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Mariya said that the Supreme Court justices’ review of the February 1 court order would dramatically increase the stability in the country, which is what the citizens want.
She said this while responding to a tweet from MP Saud Hussain who called for the release of former President Mohamed Nasheed and Adhaalath Party leader Imran Abdulla.

President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that one his most important pledges is to release political prisoners.
All four opposition leaders had at one point been imprisoned by President Abdulla Yameen’s government. While former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim have been released, Nasheed and Imran’s convictions have not been overturned.
