Professor Ugail says willing to help investigate high-profile cases

Professor Hassan Ugail has said that he is willing to assist in the investigation of high-profile cases such as the murder of religious scholar Dr. Afrasheem Ali and blogger Yameen Rasheed as well as the disappearance of journalist Ahmed Rilwan.
In a tweet on Monday, Professor Ugail said that the brutal murder of Afrasheem and Yameen as well as the disappearance of Rilwan and countless other such cases warrant thorough investigations.
He said that he, in his personal capacity, is willing to provide assistance in such matters should it deem necessary.
Jailed former vice president Ahmed Adeeb recently called on the government to re-open the trials and open the hearings to the public. He also said President Abdulla Yameen’s government has failed to investigate the murders and disappearance of Rilwan.
Ugail is a Professor of Visual Computing at the University of Bradford and is the first Maldivian to obtain a PhD in Mathematics.
