The assault victim in Addu City’s Maradhoo is in critical condition, doctors have said.

22-year-old Mohamed Evan was attacked with a sharp object during a fight between two groups on Saturday night and was taken to capital city Male’ for further treatment on Sunday evening.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, his family have said that doctors at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) told them that additional treatment would not be able to help him.

Mohamed Najeeb, the senior community health officer of Hithadhoo Regional Hospital, where the victim was first treated, said that he was stabbed in the chest, neck, head, and back.

Another person was lightly injured during the assault.

The police service has stated that a 17-year-old has been arrested in the investigation, under a court order.
