President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with senior officials of one of the largest providers of telecommunication services in the country, Dhiraagu, in commemoration of the company’s 30th anniversary.
Solih arrived at the telecom giant’s head office on Monday and met with employees and senior officials of the company, who began celebrating their 30th anniversary with many festive activities.
Dhiraagu is the longest running provider of telecommunication services in the nation, with the company having been the only internet service provider in the country for a long period of time. Dhiraagu also runs DhiraaguTV, the first and only Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service established in the country which has been made available nation-wide, the company’s fiber broadband service remains the fastest provider in the nation as well.
Solih had triumphed over outgoing President Abdulla Yameen who had lost his bid for re-election in the Presidential polls held on the 23rd of September. Solih led the votes with 58.4 percent and following his momentous win, many senior officials and state employees at government-run offices and institutions continue to meet with him.
