Maldives Police Service has decided to absolve Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Mannan Yoosuf’s dismissal from duty.
It was understood that Mannan’s dismissal came after an investigation was carried out by the police’s disciplinary board, and he was asked to commence duty last week.
Although the police had not revealed any information on Mannan’s disciplinary issue for which he was relieved from his responsibilities, RaajjeMV understands that it was because he had allegedly passed on confidential information to a third party.
Mannan had appealed on the MPS’s appeal board following his dismissal, following which they had decided to repeal the disciplinary board’s decision to sack him.
MPS had revoked the dismissal of Mannan, a close associate of former Commissioners of Police Abdulla Riyaz and Ahmed Areef, at a time President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih triumphed over incumbent President Abdulla Yameen who was vying for reelection in last week's polls.
