The Supreme Court has so far stated nothing conclusive regarding the issue

Next week, the Supreme Court will begin appeal hearings regarding the Elections Commission (EC)’s decision to unseat four MPs.

The Supreme Court will be hearing cases of Villingili MP Saud Hussain, Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, Dhidhdhoo MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed, and Maduvarri MP Mohamed Ameeth.

Saud and Waheed’s cases will be heard on Monday while Latheef and Ameeth’s cases will be heard on Tuesday.

12 lawmakers were unseated and barred from the parliament building after defecting from the ruling party and parliament sittings have been held without them for one and a half years.

The Supreme Court has so far stated nothing conclusive regarding the issue.
