It has been revealed that the housing ministry has begun giving out deposit fee slips that confirm ownership of the flats from the government’s ‘hiyaa’ social housing project before the deadline to accepting applications have been reached.
RaajjeMV has received copies of deposit fee slips and documents confirming ownership.
The documents received by RaajjeMV has the housing ministry’ letterhead and stamp with the signature of state minister Mohamed Ibrahim Manik. One of the documents was sent on August 18 and has a deposit fee of MVR 50,000.
RaajjeMV understands 200 applicants have received flats with deposit fees of MVR 50,000.
The news station has been unable to contact the housing ministry.
In a recent press conference, housing minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that President Abdulla Yameen has guaranteed that everyone who apply before the end of this month will receive flats from the ‘Hiyaa’ project.
The government is to give out 7,000 flats under the project. While minister Muizzu said that 18,000 people have applied for the 7000 flats already, he did not detail how the government plans to provide flats for over 11000 remaining applicants and more who are yet to apply.
