Following the conclusion of their campaign across the country, Joint Opposition’s vice-presidential candidate Faisal Naseem has thanked the Maldives Police Service for their ‘support’.
In a tweet posted on Friday, upon returning from southern Addu City, Naseem sent out a tweet thanking the police for their support throughout the campaign.
He further appealed to the police to respect the laws and to ensure a safe environment for the people, as well as to ensure that Sunday’s voting process goes smoothly.
While the Joint Opposition had pledged to travel to each inhabited island in the country, they did so in two teams; one led by its presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the other by Naseem. They had traveled to a total of 187 islands during the campaign.
Solih and Naseem took the last trip together, to southern Fuvahmulah and Addu cities.
While Maldivians will head to polls on Sunday morning, both parties will not be allowed to conduct campaign activities after 6pm on Saturday.
The Joint Opposition plans to conclude their campaign with a parade on Saturday evening.
