Former senior ruling party member Hiyalee Rasheed has said that he is a courageous person and that authorities will not be able to summon him over anything.
Speaking at the opposition coalition’s campaign event in Addu City on Thursday night, Hiyalee said that he was happy to support the opposition candidate, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, because of his honesty.
Speaking at an opposition event for the first time, Hiyalee said that he only became Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s registrar due to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s wishes and that he was not given his salary after the former President was removed as the party leader.
He also said that he has always remained free from people’s influence and that neither he nor his sons had worked in the current government just for an income.
He added that the authorities will not be able to summon him regarding any case of bribery, embezzlement, or other cases of corruption.
