Test flight lands in Kulhudhuffushi airport before completion of development project
The airport development project in the island is yet incomplete
The new runway was tested three days after it's completion
Tourism Minister Zameer and Attorney General Anil joined the event

A test flight has landed on the runway of the newly developing airport in the reclaimed land in Kulhudhuffushi island of Haa Dhaalu atoll, on Wednesday.

RaajjeMV understands that the test flight had landed three days since the conclusion of the runway construction. However, it had been done before the airport’s development project’s completion. As such, construction work of the terminal is also currently ongoing.

Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer and Attorney General Mohamed Anil had been present at the test flight landing in the airport’s new runway on Wednesday. The pair was welcomed by representative of south-Kulhudhuffushi constituency in Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed.

About 30% of the island’s mangrove had been reclaimed for the airport development project and the project had commenced in November 2017.

The authorities had contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company with the project for MVR 53.4 million. However, about MVR 113 million was spent in total for the land reclamation as well as the runway and terminal construction.
