Will not impose parking tickets to increase state income: Solih
Solih said that officers have to fill a daily quota of issuing parking tickets

The only permanent solution is to decentralize by providing the services in Male’ in other cities, Solih said

Opposition coalition’s presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that he will stop the practice of slapping parking tickets on vehicles to increase state income.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s ‘Rayyithunge Dharubaaru’ show at Hotel Jen on Tuesday night, Solih said that officers have to fill a daily quota of issuing parking tickets.

The opposition candidate said that all the vehicles in Male’ need 120,000 square feet of land to park, which is equal to five five-story buildings with each floor measuring 5,000 square feet.

He said that his administration will not impose traffic fines on people without giving them a place to park.

The only permanent solution is to provide the services in Male’ in other cities, Solih said, adding that decentralizing Male’ will solve its congestion issues.

Noting that building a bridge is not a solution to congestion, Solih pledged to ease traffic congestion in Male’ and to re-open the roads closed off by the current administration.
