Opposition coalition’s presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to reform and expand the government protection of people with disabilities.
Speaking at RaajjeTV’s ‘Rayyithunge Dharubaaru’ event at Hotel Jen on Tuesday night, the opposition candidate vowed to refrain from narrowing the protection of disabled people in his term.
The government currently provides MVR 2,000 per month for disabled people and the ruling party rejected the bill proposed by opposition Adhaalath Party MP Anara Naeem to increase the financial support to MVR 5,000.
Solih did not detail the exact amount he would be increasing the government’s financial support after being elected.
