President Abdulla Yameen has been seen throwing out a yellow flower from the campaign event in Addu City on Thursday.
During the live broadcast of the campaign event in Hulhumeedhoo, President Yameen was seen approaching a table, right before stepping up to the podium for a speech, and picking out the yellow flower from the decorations.
President Yameen then showed the flower to Mohamed Shahid, Hulhudhoo’s MP, and afterwards Abdul Raheem Abdulla, the ruling party’s deputy leader, pickup the flower up and threw it away.
President Yameen has been facing public ridicule over the incident.
Yellow represents Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the main opposition party in Maldives.
