Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested an individual in connection to the mugging of a woman’s handbag on the streets in broad daylight.
Officers revealed that a 25-year-old has been arrested in connection to the mugging and the arrest was made under a court order.
While the man was arrested in the late hours of Wednesday, police further revealed that they are seeking more individuals in connection to the mugging.
A video showing a woman on a motorcycle being mugged by two men riding past her on the street has since been circulating on social media. The video further shows a few people standing by as the muggers rode away.
This issue surfaces at a time MPS crime statistics have revealed a hike in crime and assault cases within the past month.
