Fraudulent calls are coming from the number “3357135”

Reports have surfaced that some individuals have been receiving fraudulent phone calls in the name of the joint opposition coalition’s campaign office, revealed Presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s spokesperson and Member of Parliament for north-Mahchangoalhi constituency Mariya Ahmed Didi.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Mariya stated that the number “3357135” has been calling people in the name of the campaign office for some time now. She confirmed to the media that this number is not registered under the opposition’s campaign office and that they are yet to receive any information on whom the number is registered to.

Mariya went on to appeal on the public to be aware of such fraudulent phone calls.

Moreover, Mariya said that they have been receiving complaints that the ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) campaign office has been making phone calls to make inquiries.

While reports of fraudulent calls have surfaced, campaign offices usually make calls to the general public prior to the elections.
