Sun Media Group’s news website Sun Online and television channel Sun TV is to be shuttered.

The company owned by Sun Media Group is headed by Ahmed Siyam, the leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), which is the coalition partner of the ruling party.

The decision was made in a meeting with senior Sun Media employees on Tuesday.

RaajjeMV understands that another meeting was held with the rest of the employees on Wednesday afternoon to notify them of the decision.

It has been more than three months since its radio station Sun FM has been shuttered.

Sun Media Group was founded in 2009, and first established Sun FM. The media group then established Sun Online, Sun Magazine, and Sun TV.
