Joint Opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has asked his supporters not to act out of emotional agitation.
Solih said this in response to the physical confrontation between opposition and ruling party supporters that occured in GA. Kolamaafushi last Wednesday.
Speaking at a campaign event in Vaadhoo on Friday morning, Solih said that the political parties should only act after due consideration and that supporters should work to gain support and votes.
Solih also said that Huvadhoo is Maldives’ largest atoll and consists of 20 percent of the country’s islands as well as the most uninhabited islands, numbering 200.
Noting the tourism development in the atoll, he pledged to give more autonomy to the atoll in his administration.
Solih is visiting 18 islands of Huvadhoo and is scheduled to return on Monday.
