Ali Zahir said the opposition leaders have decided to back a single presidential candidate to free the country from the current turmoil

Adhaalath Party (AP) deputy leader Ali Zahir has said that the Joint Opposition should be proud of being a ‘cocktail’ coalition.

Ali Zahir said this in a speech at a campaign event in Sri Lanka on Monday in response to President Abdulla Yameen, who said that the opposition coalition parties have so far been unable to agree on any of the major issues and have not agreed on the type of government they would lead.

Noting that each leader of the opposition parties has the capacity to lead the nation, Ali Zahir said that they have joined together to back a single presidential candidate to free the country from the current turmoil.

Ali Zahir said that they will also easily recover the stolen state funds after the change in administration, since thy already know who is behind it. He said that they have filed cases against the perpetrator but that the investigative bodies do not have the capacity to act.

He accused President Abdulla Yameen of making unbelievable pledges ahead of the election and said that he has been unable to fulfill 95,000 of the pledges he made in the last one.
