Four individuals have been arrested in suspicion of an attempted attack in Gan island of Laamu atoll.
Police said that four men- a 23-year-old, 24-year-old and two 27-year-olds- were arrested in an operation launched by the Police Intelligence and Gan police station at around 11pm on Saturday.
While all four were arrested from a car parked at the Thundi ward of the island, police said that they were prepared for the attack ‘with their faces fully covered’.
Police added that they had found ‘hoods, a knife and wig’ upon searching the car they were in.
While police arrested four suspects in Gan on Saturday night, local news outlet ‘VFP’ reports that three individuals were injured in an attack in Gan at around 3:15am.
Police had confirmed to ‘VFP’ that the attack was reported to them at around 3:45am, while an official from Gan Regional Hospital said three assault victims were being treated there. RaajjeMV was unable to get a comment from the police regarding this second attack at the time of publishing.
