Elections Commission (EC) has finished interviewing candidates to fill positions of officials at polling stations.
EC stated that they have chosen the officials but will hire more if they have to increase the number of ballot boxes after completing the re-registration process.
Over 8,000 candidates applied for the position and EC has stated that they would assign over 4,500 officials at polling stations on election day.
262,141 Maldivians are eligible to vote on the presidential election on September 23.
EC is set to place 491 ballot boxes on election day and the commission has already sent ballot boxes and voting booths to the islands.
