Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has delayed his trip to Madifushi island in Thaa atoll during his tour of the atoll, to Wednesday.

Spokesperson Muaz wrote that the President was initially scheduled to visit Thaa atoll Madifushi on Tuesday, however, he had decided to postpone the trip to Wednesday following prevailing turbulent weather across the nation.

President Yameen began his campaign tour across islands of Thaa atoll on Monday and it was to proceed for three days.

RaajjeMV understands that although he was to conclude his trip on Wednesday, he had decided to extend it due to turbulent weather.

The President had visited Vilufushi and Buruni islands as part of his campaign tour on Tuesday whereas on Monday, he visited Kandoodhoo, Veymandoo as well as Thimarafushi. According to President’s office, the President inaugurated a water plant in Thimarafushi, a coastal protection structure in Veymandoo and Kandoodhoo, marked the conclusion of the road development project in Vilufushi as well as the installation of a sewer system in Buruni.

It has been reported that President Yameen will be officially inaugurating the installation of sewer systems in Dhiyamigili and Madifushi as well. President’s office further revealed that the President will also be marking the conclusion of the land reclamation project and the structure to protect the reclaimed land in Madifushi.

While campaign activities are proceeding full steam ahead from both the opposition coalition and ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM), President Yameen has been visiting islands in the outlying atolls and inaugurating some of the projects that had started in the islands.
