A Maldivian man who attempted to save him was electrocuted as well

A man onboard a fishing vessel in Gemanafushi island of Gaaf Alif atoll has died due to an electric shock.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, the media officer at the Maldives Police Service said that the incident occured around daybreak on Monday, and that the incident was reported to police at around 06:00 a.m.

RaajjeMV understands that a 34-year-old expatriate was electrocuted and his body is currently being brought to capital city Male’ for burial.

According to information received by the station, the man had died on the spot, having come in contact with a faulty electric light. It is also reported that a Maldivian man, who had attempted to save the expatriate, was electrocuted as well, however, he had not attained any serious injuries.
