The police have apprehended an individual over the murder of Ismail Umar, whose body was found in the ice plant on Ihavandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll.

Police announced the discovery of the 54-year-old's body, reported to have been severely bruised, on Friday. Two police forensic teams had arrived in the island on Friday.

The incident was reported to the police at around 4:15 pm.

They have yet to release any further details about the apprehended individual, except for the fact that he is an expatriate.

RaajjeMV understands that Ismail, native to Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani atoll, is the ice plant's mechanic and is charged with its overall maintenance.
