Electricity services has resumed to Thimarafushi island in Thaa Atoll, after an island wide power outage occurred in the island since Friday.

Power went out in the island on Friday 5pm and resumed on Saturday night.

An official at FENAKA reported that the disruption was due to an issue with the panel board. The delay in fixing the issue, he said, was caused as the staff who could fix the issue was under suspension. The staff was suspended following the Local Council Elections.

The citizens of the island had faced immense difficulties due to the disruption.

One kitchen was razed in a house fire that had occurred on Saturday. The fire was caused after a resident of the house had lit a candle for light. No injuries were reported in the fire.
