Joint Opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that his administration will not forcibly remove locals from their islands.
The opposition candidate said this in Hirimaradhoo on Sunday in his three-day trip to Haa Dhaalu atoll.
Solih said that the government of the Joint Opposition will not forcibly remove anyone from their islands but that they will be given the opportunity to move.
Speaking to the Hirimaradhoo residents, numbering 500, Solih said that they will also be given the chance to move to another island if they wish, but that the government will not intervene in either case.
This is Solih’s first trip to Haa Dhaalu atoll since being elected as the opposition candidate. He is set to visit 13 islands in the atoll within three days.
