Opposition’s presidential hopeful, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured that incumbent President Abdulla Yameen will be held accountable for his government’s misdoings ‘as per the law’.
He said this in an interview to RaajjeTV’s Fala Surukhee programme on Saturday night, where he emphasized that ‘no one will be above the law’ in an opposition administration.
Noting that Yameen will be held accountable, Solih said that ‘everything will be done as per laws’.
He added that he believes that the incumbent ‘will be cooperative’ as well.
Solih, who is up against Yameen in September’s polls, is the opposition’s candidate for the elections.
The opposition has made numerous allegations against President Yameen and his administration including its various violations of the Constitution.
It is also accused of corruption, bribery and influencing the courts.
At Saturday's interview, Solih also highlighted that he has the experience to fulfill the responsibilities given to him by the opposition, saying that he believes he was chosen as the candidate because he has the ‘capability to resolve the issues in the country’.
Noting that he might ‘not be the most well-educated’, Solih said that he is certain ‘that there is not a single lawmaker that will doubt [his] capability’.
