Former media official and former executive coordinator of the defence ministry, Mohamed Mushrif has joined Adhaalath Party.
Mushrif had resigned as coordinator over concerns regarding the current administration’s tyranny and corruption.
Speaking at a press conference hosted by the Adhaalath Party on Friday night, the party’s Vice President Ali Zahir said that it gives them immense joy that educated youth are joining the party, highlighting that this is a progression to the party.
Zahir said that AP is a party of the citizens and that a way will be paved for progression for the work preferred by individuals. He added that nobody will be forced to work against their beliefs in the party, and that all of the party’s works will be carried out after thorough discussions in which mutual opinions are put into practice.
“I call on everyone to join Adhaalath Party. Even now, young educated individuals are working in top positions of the party. Adhaalath is not a party specified for a certain group of people” said Zahir.
Also speaking at the conference, Mushrif said that he had stepped down from the post of coordinator in order to join reforms efforts to save the nation from the various acts of corruption and tyranny carried out by the current administration. As such, the ex-coordinator highlighted that up till date, the government of President Yameen has in various ways attempted to swerve the direction of the nation into that of misconducts.
“This is not exactly political work. This is work done for the betterment of the nation. We are campaigning for the candidate selected by the Joint Opposition coalition in order to bring this administration’s tyranny to an end” said Mushrif.
Praising Adhaalath Party for assembling their policies in accordance with the sincere principles of Islam, Mushrif highlighted that the party is one that has been working for the rights of citizens thus far in ways that promote unity and concord within the nation, adding that the citizens have proved this to be true.
The ex-coordinator further stated that the manifesto assembled by the AP for the upcoming Presidential Election is remarkable, adding that it covers everything desired by “Jazeera Raajje", the opposition’s manifesto for the 2018 elections.
Mushrif, a vocal critic of President Yameen and his administration, has been pessimistic about the government actions ever since his resignation, voicing his concern over matters such as President Yameen’s “corrupt enrichment” of tycoons while “poor Maldivians fall into destitution”.
How does YAG corruptly enrich his allies and these tycoons more wealthier while poor Maldivians fall into destitution? Let them steal state funds via cost-inflated mega projects like, 25 story Hospital; and illegal distribution of our lands to these tycoons adding to their assets pic.twitter.com/ba3rHUen8i
