Sri Lankan media outlets report that officers found a total of 169 counterfeit notes on the individual

A Maldivian individual has been arrested in Negambo in a drug bust carried out by the Sri Lankan police’s narcotics department.

The 49-year-old was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Friday morning at about 05:30. Officers had found counterfeit cash on his person; in the pocket of his trousers.

Sri Lankan media outlets report that officers found a total of 169 counterfeit notes on the individual, amounting to USD 8,450.

This amounts to about LKR 1,368,900 or MVR 130,00.
