The earthquake in Indonesia poses no threat to Maldives, says the Maldives Meteorological Service.
Indonesia was hit with a magnitude 7 earthquake near the island of Lombok on Sunday.
In a tweet right after the disaster, met service stated: “An Earthquake of M 6.7 has occurred in the Sumbawa region, Indonesia on 5th Aug 2018 at 1646 hrs local time. There is no threat to Maldives.”

While a tsunami warning was also issued in Indonesia, there is no threat of a tsunami hitting Maldives.
This was the second quake in the region in a week. A 6.4-magnitude hit the island on July 29, killing 17 people.
