Stopping us from putting up posters will not silence political leaders: MP Mariya

North Mahchangolhi MP Mariya Ahmed Didi has said that the opposition is speaking out against oppression and that the police cannot silence opposition leaders by calling them convicts.

Speaking in a ceremony held at Salf Café, Mariya said that the political leaders are beloved by citizens and cannot be sidelined from the political discourse.

Mariya, who is also the spokesperson of the opposition coalition candidate, urged the authorities to stop taking down their posters.

“People supposedly can’t be party leaders after they are convicted of criminal charges. But former President Mohamed Nasheed is still looked up to as MDP’s leader despite such regulations that attempt to obstruct political leaders.”
