SATRC working group meeting commences in Maafushi
16 delegates from eight countries of the South Asia Pacific will participate in this year's meeting

South Asian Telecommunications Regulators' Council (SATRC)’s working group meeting on policy, regulations and services has begun on Wednesday.

The meeting, which is to proceed from the 1st till the 2nd of August, is being held in Maafushi island in Male’ atoll and was inaugurated by Chief Executive Officer of the Communication Authority, Ilyas Ahmed.

16 delegates from eight countries of the South Asia Pacific including Afghanistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan as well as Sri Lanka are joined by experts from the South Asia Telecom Regulatory zone in this year's working group meeting.

In this year’s working group meeting on policy, regulations and services of the council will see discussions of further enhancing Telecommunications services and facilities in South Asian countries.

According to Asia-Pacific Telecommunity, SATRC was formed in 1997 and is responsible for discussion and coordination of all issues relating to regulations in telecommunication which are of common interest to the telecommunication regulators in South Asian Countries.
