The bank accounts of Villa Group, owned by Qasim Ibrahim, has been frozen.

Raajje.mv understands that the Villa Group was informed of the decision by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) on Wednesday.

In a letter sent by MIRA Director General Enforcement Fathimath Ameeza stated that Villa Group had failed to pay the amount owed to State, with regards to Thaa. Elaa. As such, the letter said the action was taken under MIRA’s Enforcement Police and under this, services of some agencies have been halted and all accounts under Villa Group have been frozen.

The accounts were frozen after Qasim Ibrahim had claimed support for the impeachment vote on Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.

Villa Group accounts were frozen in 2015, in connection to Elaa issue, after the May Day protests.
