Working hours at Maldives courts have been reduced.

The department of judicial administration stated that the Supreme Court has decided to shorten the working hours of courts to 8am to 2pm.

Along with the change, the one-hour break has also been reduced to 30 minutes.

The change will become effective on August 1 (tomorrow).

The department stated that there will be no change regarding the duty schedule of workers.

While the courts are handling ever increasing cases, the department did not disclose the reason behind reducing the working hours.
