None of the islands have shown much support for President Abdulla Yameen, says Mohamed Shifaz, the vice president of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Shifaz said this to RaajjeMV while accompanying opposition coalition running mate Faisal Naseem during his trip to Alif Dhaalu atoll.

Shifaz said that their campaign trips to the islands have shown that there is not much support for the incumbent President and that most people want change.

He also said that citizens are concerned due to the actions of President Yameen’s government and how the Elections Commission (EC) is carrying out the re-registration process.

“We will win this election, we will get our voting rights, we will guarantee our voting rights, we will not give President Abdulla Yameen the chance to commit fraud.”

Shifaz noted that senior officials of government-affiliated offices in the islands are carrying out re-registrations for the government.

In their ongoing trip to Alif Dhaalu atoll, running mate Faisal and his campaign team have already visited Mandhoo, Fenfushi, Dhidhdhoo, and Dhigurah. They received a warm welcome in Hangnaameedhoo and Omadhoo during their visit on Tuesday.

Faisal is being accompanied by MDP Vice President Mohamed Shifaz, MPs Ibrahim Shareef, Anara Naeem and Jumhooree Party’s councilors Adam Azim and Mohamed Maleeh.
