President Abdulla Yameen has made next Sunday (tomorrow) a public holiday.
President’s Office confirmed this on Twitter.
President’s Office stated that President Yameen made the decision due to the Independence Day activities being postponed to Saturday evening, adding that a high number of school students and civil servants are involved in the activities.
Government offices are to be reopened on Monday.

Festivities for the 53rd Independence Day was initially scheduled for Friday night before postponing them to Saturday night.
Last Thursday was also made a public holiday for the occasion.
