Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the candidate of the opposition coalition, has pledged to abolish the overtime pay limit for civil service employees.

In an interview on RaajjeTV’s show Ibu (Solih’s nickname) aired on Friday night, Solih said that it is unfair that there is a limit to giving extra pay to civil employees despite how much time they work overtime.

He emphasized that nurses and teachers should receive extra pay without limit according to how much overtime work they do.

Solih said that he has been thinking of possible revisions to the salary policies for civil service employees and that he will very soon disclose his administration’s manifesto regarding the civil service.

Noting that civil service employees are having to work under oppressive conditions, Solih said that people with diverse political opinions will be able to work independently in his administration.

RaajjeTV’s Ibu show is aired every Friday night at 10pm.
