Two men have been arrested in the police's ongoing raid at a house in the Maafannu ward of the capital Malé City- Cessna.

While police officers entered the house at around 12am on Thursday, the operation was still ongoing at 8am. Police spokesperson Mohamed Shifan was seen there as well.

Those at the scene confirmed that two individuals have been taken into custody, and that officers were seen carrying out a bag from the house.

Police have yet to disclose any information regarding the raid and following arrests.

While the house belongs to Mohamed Allaam Latheef, one of the individuals wanted in connection to the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) corruption case, RaajjeMV understands that the raid had nothing to do with him, but rather with detained Dhiggaru constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon. It is believed that there is an apartment connected to Faris on the fifth floor of the building.

The raid comes less than a week after President Abdulla Yameen's former vice Ahmed Adeeb made startling allegations against him in court, including that it was the incumbent president that managed all the dollars stolen from MMPRC.
