The opposition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that theiy are working on the joint manifesto for the 2018 presidential elections and that it will be publicized 'within the next few days'.

Solih made the announcement while speaking to the media after his meeting with the members of the Malé City council on Wednesday. He was accompanied by his running mate, Jumhooree Party's Faisal Naseem at the meeting.

Solih, who belongs to the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), noted that despite the party already releasing its manifesto, that a 'new' manifesto will be released after reviewing all policies proposed by the rest of the parties on the Joint Opposition.

While the Joint Opposition comprises of MDP, Jumhooree Party, Adhaalath Party and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's breakaway faction of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives, Adhaalath Party had proposed a 36-policy manifesto on Tuesday. While Jumhooree Party has not released an official manifesto, its leader Qasim Ibrahim had proposed 11 policies to the opposition's joint manifesto.

The Joint Opposition’s ‘18/19’ committee is currently discussing all matter related to the said manifesto.
