Faarufushi Maldives, located in a remote area of Raa atoll and developed by leading developer and operator of Maldives resorts Universal Resorts, is planned to open in December.

The newly developed luxury resort, which is a 50-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport, was developed fitting to a private island concept.

While the resort will officially be open to welcome guests on the 15th of December, it comprises of 80 spacious villas designed in contemporary style and wrapped around luscious tropical sceneries, out of which ten are beach bungalows, 37 are beach retreat villas with a pool and 39 are sleek ocean retreat villas with a pool stilted over the lagoon.

According to Hotelier Maldives, the three ocean suite with pool and the island residence with pool offers guests the “ultimate sanctuary with an expansive infinity pool overlooking its very own stretch of the Indian Ocean”.

While this resort offers generous choices in their banquets at three restaurants and two bars, “Iru Restaurant” will offer all day dining and is located next to “Sangu Bar” which overlooks the infinity pool of the resort. The second restaurant, “Boli” is located by the reef’s edge, an open-sky restaurant offering a breathtaking sunset view and cuisines fitting modern tastes.

The third restaurant, “Athiri” offers dining by the beach fit for casual gatherings and also offers island facilities such as water sports and a gym overlooking the ocean.

According to Hotelier, the resort also offers Spa services, with their “Nika Spa” offering services in six treatment rooms, each featuring the “blissful vegetation” of the lush tropical getaway complete with outdoor salas and relaxation pavilions.

Faarufushi island is owned and developed by Faarufushi Investment Private Limited, and managed by Universal Resorts Management Private Limited.

According to Maldives Insider, Universal Resorts released a statement saying that "there is much to see in the Raa atoll. On shore, at sea and underwater. Exploring and discovering dolphins, visiting other islands, sailing into the sunset is only a small part of the comprehensive programme. Nearly every experience at the resort is infused with an element of sea view and a design that blends in with nature. Preserving the natural vegetation and beauty of the resort has been meticulously thought through during the design and conception of the resort by the owners and developers, Faarufushi Management Pvt. Ltd.”

Some of the iconic properties operated by Universal include Kurumba Maldives, Kuramathi Maldives, Kandolhu Maldives, Maafushivaru, Dhigali Maldives, Milaidhoo Island Maldives, Velassary Maldives as well as Baros Maldives.
